Specs by Prue Australia – Colourful Glasses by Dame Prue Leith 👓💗

If you know me, you'll know I have a bit of a thing for glasses that are different.

Colour, personality, unusual shapes… glasses that make you look twice.

So when I had the opportunity to bring Specs by Prue, designed by Dame Prue Leith, to The Glasses Lady here in Australia, you can probably imagine my reaction.

YES PLEASE! 😂👓

Most people will know Dame Prue Leith as the much-loved British chef, restaurateur, author and TV personality.

But I've always noticed something else about her…

Her glasses!

Bright, colourful and unapologetically bold, Prue has made statement eyewear part of her signature look.

And there's actually a reason behind it.

Prue has spoken about being frustrated by the lack of choice in eyewear. She wanted glasses that were stylish and colourful — rather than something boring that simply helped her see.

Now THAT is something I can relate to.

Glasses should be part of who you are

One of my favourite quotes from Prue is:

“I'd rather spend money on glasses (and necklaces) than on shoes and handbags that spend most of their time under tables.”

I couldn't agree more.

Think about it.

Your glasses sit right in the middle of your face. People see them when they're talking to you and, if you wear them every day, they become a huge part of how the world sees you.

So why should they be an afterthought?

I've always believed that your glasses should work with your face, your colouring and your prescription — but they should also reflect your personality.

And that's exactly what I love about Specs by Prue.

This collection is FUN.

There are beautiful colour combinations, interesting shapes and gorgeous little design details that make these frames stand out from the crowd.

And even the names have personality!

Babka, Bienenstich, Birthday, Biscoff, Blackforest, Bologna, Buccellato, Bundt, Butterfly, Caramel, Chiffon… and plenty more.

It wouldn't be Prue without a little foodie influence, would it? 😂

But here's something I really want to point out.

Just because these glasses are colourful doesn't mean you have to be the loudest person in the room to wear them.

That's where styling comes in.

Sometimes a frame that looks incredibly bold sitting on the shelf looks completely different once it's on your face.

The trick is finding your version of bold.

For one person, that might be bright pink and turquoise.

For someone else, it could be a beautiful tortoiseshell with just a little flash of blue.

There's no rule saying statement glasses have to shout.

They just need to feel like you.

“I'm not brave enough to wear glasses like Prue…”

I can already hear some of you saying it! 😂

But here's the thing.

You don't have to look like Prue Leith to wear Specs by Prue.

And you certainly don't have to choose the brightest frame in the collection.

When I'm styling someone, I'm looking at the whole person — face shape, proportions, colouring, hair, personality, lifestyle and, importantly, how they want to feel in their glasses.

Sometimes I'll hand someone a frame and they'll look at me as though I've completely lost the plot.

“Tracy, I would NEVER have picked these!”

Then they put them on.

There's another look in the mirror.

A smile starts to appear.

And then…

“Ohhh… I actually LOVE these!”

That's the bit I love.

It's not about convincing someone to wear the boldest glasses in the room.

It's about finding the glasses that make them feel fabulous when they look in the mirror.
