Great glasses need great lenses

I love finding you an incredible frame, but your lenses are every bit as important.

With over 30 years of experience as an Optical Dispenser, I work with everything from simple prescriptions through to very complex prescriptions, selecting lenses based on how you actually use your eyes every day.

I don't believe in simply offering everyone the same lens.

Your prescription, occupation, lifestyle, frame choice and visual needs all play a part in finding the right lens solution for you.

Because beautiful glasses should give you beautiful vision too.

Single Vision Lenses

Single vision lenses contain one prescription throughout the lens and can be prescribed for distance, reading or other specific visual tasks.

Distance

Distance lenses can correct myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (long-sightedness) and astigmatism.

Depending on your prescription, frame and lifestyle, I'll also consider the most appropriate lens material, thickness and coatings to give you the best combination of vision, comfort and appearance.

Prescription Reading Glasses

As we get older, our eyes gradually lose some of their ability to focus at close distances — something called presbyopia, which commonly becomes noticeable from our 40s.

Prescription reading glasses are made specifically for your eyes and your preferred reading distance.

And your readers certainly don't have to be boring. If they're going to spend half their life sitting on your face, I think they deserve to look fabulous too. 😂

Progressive Multifocal Lenses

Progressive lenses — also known as multifocals or varifocals — allow you to see at different distances through one pair of glasses.

They can provide vision for distance, intermediate and near, allowing you to move between activities such as driving, looking at your computer and reading without constantly changing glasses.

But not all progressive lenses are the same.

Modern progressive lens technology allows me to consider factors including your prescription, frame measurements, lifestyle, working distances and how you naturally use your eyes and head.

I seek out advanced lens designs from manufacturers that continually invest in research, development and optical technology, so I can recommend the solution I believe is best suited to you.

With multifocals, accurate measurements and frame positioning are particularly important, which is why I take great care when fitting and dispensing them.

Office Lenses

If you spend much of your day working at a computer, a traditional reading lens may not give you the range of vision you need.

Office lenses are designed specifically for near and intermediate distances, making them ideal for computer work, meetings, reading, paperwork and other tasks within your working environment.

They can provide a much wider, more comfortable working area than trying to use the intermediate section of a general-purpose progressive lens for prolonged computer use.

I'll recommend the working distance that's appropriate for the way you work.

Anti-Fatigue Lenses

Anti-fatigue lenses can be a great option for people who still see well in the distance but are beginning to experience tired eyes or difficulty focusing comfortably at close distances.

They provide a small amount of additional support towards the bottom of the lens for near tasks while maintaining clear distance vision.

They're particularly useful for people spending long periods looking between screens, phones and other close-up tasks.

Anti-Reflection Coatings

A quality anti-reflection coating is one of the lens options I recommend most frequently.

It reduces distracting reflections from the lens surfaces and can improve visual comfort and clarity, particularly when driving at night or working under artificial lighting.

It also makes your lenses look clearer, allowing people to see your eyes rather than reflections in your glasses — something I particularly love after we've spent all that time finding your fabulous frames!

Advances in lens coatings can also offer improved durability, easier cleaning and resistance to everyday wear.

I seek out lens technology from manufacturers investing extensively in research and development, including research into demanding visual environments such as high-performance driving and professional film production, where clarity and controlling reflections are particularly important.

Thin & Ultra-Thin Lenses

If you have a stronger prescription, choosing the right lens material and frame can make an enormous difference to the finished appearance of your glasses.

Higher-index lenses can reduce lens thickness and weight compared with standard lens materials.

But I don't automatically recommend the thinnest lens available.

I look at your prescription, frame size, frame shape, measurements and lens design before recommending the most appropriate option.

Sometimes choosing the right frame can make just as much difference to the finished result as choosing a thinner lens.

Transitions & Light-Adaptive Lenses

Light-adaptive lenses automatically darken in response to UV and/or light conditions and return towards clear when you're back indoors.

They're a fantastic option if you regularly move between inside and outside and don't want to constantly swap between your everyday glasses and sunglasses.

There are different types of light-adaptive technology available, including options designed to become darker outdoors and offer additional activation in certain conditions.

I'll talk you through the choices and help you decide whether they're right for your lifestyle.

Prescription Sunglasses & Polarised Lenses

If you wear prescription glasses, you don't have to compromise when it comes to sunglasses.

Prescription sunglasses can be made in single vision and many multifocal prescriptions, with a range of tint and polarised options available.

Polarised lenses are particularly useful for reducing reflected glare from surfaces such as roads, water and sand, making them a fantastic option for driving and outdoor activities.

And living in Australia, I think a great pair of prescription sunglasses is pretty close to essential. 😎

Non-Prescription Lenses

Don't need a prescription but have fallen in love with one of my frames?

Absolutely!

Non-prescription lenses can be fitted to many of my frames, including clear lenses and sunglass options.

They're perfect if you simply love eyewear as a fashion accessory — because you definitely don't need a prescription to wear fabulous glasses.

Which lenses are right for me?

This is where I come in.

You don't need to know which lens design, material, coating or index you need before you see me.

That's my job.

I'll talk to you about your prescription, work, driving, screen use, hobbies and everyday life before recommending the lens options I believe will give you the best combination of vision, comfort, appearance and performance.

Because I don't start with a lens product.
