Your Glasses Are the First Thing People See – So Why Settle for “Okay”?

Your Glasses Are the First Thing People See – So Why Settle for “Okay”?

Have you ever thought about how much of your face your glasses actually take up?

They sit right there, front and centre. People see them when they look into your eyes, when you smile, when you talk and when they first meet you.

Yet when it comes to choosing glasses, I still hear people say:

“They’ll do.”

Oh no… those two little words make me want to jump in! 😂

Your glasses shouldn't just do.

They should make you feel fabulous.

We think carefully about everything else we wear

Think about how much thought we put into our appearance.

We choose clothes in colours we love. We have our hair cut and coloured to suit us. We pick jewellery, handbags, shoes and accessories because they say something about our personality.

But glasses?

Something we're potentially wearing on our face every single day?

So often they're chosen from a wall of frames because one pair seems comfortable, another is the right price, or someone says, “They look nice.”

Nice is fine.

But I think your glasses can do so much more than that.

The right glasses can completely change your face

I've worked in optics for more than 30 years, and one thing I never get tired of seeing is what happens when someone puts on the right pair of glasses.

Suddenly their eyes stand out.

Their colouring comes alive.

Their face looks lifted.

But my favourite part isn't actually any of those things.

It's the smile.

There's a little moment when someone looks in the mirror and realises they actually love what they see.

You can see their confidence beginning to shine through.

That's the moment I'm always looking for.

Choosing glasses isn't just about face shape

People often ask me:

“What glasses suit my face shape?”

And yes, face shape is important — but it's only one piece of the puzzle.

When I'm styling someone, I'm looking at the whole person.

Your colouring. Your hair. Your eyes. Your proportions. Your bridge. Your prescription. Your wardrobe. Your lifestyle.

And then there's something that's much harder to measure:

Your personality.

Because I don't want to put everyone with a similar face shape into the same style of glasses.

Where's the fun in that?

You might be elegant and understated.

You might love colour but be nervous about wearing it.

You might have spent years choosing safe glasses and secretly be ready for something completely different.

Sometimes the person sitting in front of me doesn't even know what they're looking for yet.

And that's absolutely okay.

That's my job.

“I could never wear those!”

This is probably one of the sentences I hear most.

I'll pick up a frame and immediately get:

“Tracy! I could NEVER wear those!”

I love it. 😂

Because quite often, those are exactly the glasses I want them to try.

I'm not trying to turn everyone into someone who wears huge, bright, statement frames.

Sometimes the perfect frame is beautifully subtle.

But I do like to gently push people beyond what they've always chosen for themselves.

Because if you've been buying the same shape, same colour and same style for 15 years, how do you know there isn't something even better waiting for you?

Try them on.

Worst case? We laugh and take them straight back off.

Best case?

You look in the mirror and go…

“Ohhhhh. I LOVE these.”

That's the fun bit.

Your glasses can say something about you

Glasses aren't something we need to hide anymore.

They're fashion.

They're an accessory.

And I think they can be one of the most powerful accessories we own.

Before you've even said hello, your glasses can say:

I'm confident.

I'm creative.

I'm elegant.

I'm fun.

I'm different.

Or simply…

This is me.

And that's what I ultimately want for every person I style.

I don't want someone to look at your glasses and think, “Those are very Tracy.”

I want them to look at you and think:

“Wow. Those glasses are so YOU.”

That's when I know I've got it right.

So please, don't settle for “okay”

If you wear glasses every day, you could spend thousands of hours wearing that one little accessory over the next couple of years.

I think that's worth giving a little more thought to.

Your glasses should fit properly.

They should work beautifully with your prescription.

They should complement your colouring and your features.

But above everything else?

They should make you feel bloody fabulous.

And if you've never felt that way in glasses before, maybe you just haven't found the right ones yet.

Ready to see yourself differently?

If choosing glasses has always felt overwhelming — or you simply have no idea what suits you anymore — that's exactly what I'm here for.

During an Eyewear Styling Consultation, I'll take the time to get to know you, your face, your colouring, your lifestyle and your personality.

Then we'll have some fun finding the glasses that make you look in the mirror and smile.

Because I'm not looking for glasses that will simply do.

I'm looking for the ones you'll absolutely love wearing.
